Brazilian Supreme Court Has Sentenced Former President Jair Bolsonaro To More Than 27 Years In Jail

Brazil's Supreme Court has sentenced former President Jair Bolsonaro to 27 years and three months in prison after finding him guilty of plotting a coup to remain in power after losing the 2022 election. The historic ruling was issued on Thursday, September 11, 2025, and marks the first time a former Brazilian president has been convicted of such charges.
