U.S Announces $24 Million in Emergency, Life-Saving Aid For Caribbean Countries Most Affected By Melissa
The U.S Department of State has announced its approval of an initial $24 million in emergency, life saving aid for the Caribbean countries most affected by the destruction caused by the powerful Hurricane Melissa.
The funding, earmarked for shelter, water, sanitation, hygiene kits, food and other healthcare emergencies tools will provide a lifeline for the affected communities as the region continue to assess the damages.
The hardest hit countries; Jamaica and Haiti will receive the largest portion of the aid disbursement value at $12 and $8.5 million respectively.
The people of Cuba will receive $3 million and $500.000 for the Bahamas.
